Municipality site in Ajmer wanted pdf. I had a photo of the shop licence. Jpg from the phone. Counter uncle said scan it. Xerox shop was closed for lunch.
I opened JPG to PDF, dropped the photo, downloaded a pdf, uploaded. It went.
FileOnDesk is not a government portal. We do not issue a licence. We do not stamp it. We only turn the picture into a pdf the upload slot will accept.
Phone photo of the paper, then convert
Lay the licence flat. Light from the side, not a harsh flash on lamination. All four corners in the frame. No finger over the number.
Then convert. One jpg, one page pdf, usually enough. If they want front and back, two photos, same tool, two pages.
Order. Front first. Drop front, then back.
If the jpg is huge, Compress Image first so the pdf is not fat. Portal max might be 1 mb or 2 mb. Read their page. Our tab allows up to 20 MB. Their slot may be smaller.

If they want only jpg, do not convert. This article is for the day they said pdf and you only have a photo.

Your file is not uploaded to our server. The municipality server is where it goes after you submit on their site.
I keep the original jpg till they approve. If they reject blur, I retake, convert again.
Do not edit the licence number in an app to make it look nicer. That is a different kind of trouble. Crop the table out, fine. Do not paint digits.
Rotate if the photo is sideways. Gallery rotate, or Rotate PDF after convert.

Shop owner in Udaipur sent me a WhatsApp image, compressed to mud. I asked for the original from gallery, not the chat copy. Then convert.
Name the pdf something dull. shop-licence.pdf. Their site may strip names anyway.
If merge with GST papers, Merge PDF after each piece is a pdf. Cover letter first if they asked a bundle. Licence, then rent, then noc, whatever their checklist is. I do not invent the checklist.
What the municipality is not
We are not the nagar nigam. We are not the licensing inspector. If the licence is expired, a pretty pdf will not renew it.

Password on a downloaded licence pdf from some portals. If it is locked, this site cannot open it. Unlock where you got it, or photograph the printed copy if that is allowed, which I cannot decide for you.
20 MB. A raw phone photo is under that. Ten raw photos maybe not. Two sides is fine.
Grid tool if you want both sides on one A4. Images to PDF Grid. Some clerks hate two-up. They want one page one side. Ask, or follow last year file they accepted.
I usually do one side per page. Simple.
If the photo has a tea cup in the corner, crop in gallery. Looks unprofessional. They may not reject for a cup. They may.
Stamp must be readable. If the stamp is dark, do not crush quality to 20 percent.
Colour vs black. If they said colour scan, keep colour. Grey pdf of a colour hologram is how you get a query.
Office wifi, convert local, then upload on their portal when the line is good. Convert does not need a strong upload. Their portal does.
If download button grey, you maybe dropped a video, or the file is over 20 MB, or you have not dropped yet. Wait a second on a slow phone.
Safari quirks on iPhone, export jpg still. Chrome Android is what I use at the shop.
I am not saying Chrome is required by the nagar nigam. I am saying our tool behaved on Chrome for me.
Print a copy for the physical file. Digital upload plus a paper file, both worlds, small city.
If inspector asks to see the original plastic, that is not a pdf job. Keep the original in the drawer.
After the pdf is in Downloads
Upload on their form. Wait for the acknowledgement number. Save a screenshot of success plus the pdf in a folder named with the year.
Close our tab. Working copy gone. Jpg still in gallery. Pdf still in Downloads till you move it.
Your file is not uploaded to our server.
If their site times out, the pdf is still with you. Upload again. You do not need to convert again unless you lost the pdf.
Pendrive for the accountant. He will ask why it is a photo pdf not a scanner pdf. Tell him xerox was closed. If they reject, go scan later.
Scanner pdf from a shop is cleaner for tiny print. Phone is the backup.
I have done this for a kirana, a xerox, a tyre shop. Same steps. Photo, convert, check size, upload there, not here.
FileOnDesk does not track your licence number. We never saw it.
If a tout near the municipal building says only he can make the pdf, you can walk away and use JPG to PDF. Paying a tout for a stamp is a different illegal story I will not help with. Making a pdf from your own photo of your own paper is the boring legal part.
If the form wants size 500 kb and yours is 3 mb, compress the jpg, convert again. Or compress is for images, so shrink jpg, then jpg to pdf.
Do not compress a pdf here expecting Adobe magic. We may not even offer a real pdf compressor like Adobe. Images to pdf after shrinking photos is the honest path.
Last check. Corners, number, stamp, file size, pdf extension. Then their portal.
Not our portal. I will repeat because people bookmark us and try to log a licence application. There is no login. There is a drop zone.
