She dropped that into JPG to PDF and the tool looked confused. Or it picked a still that was the wrong frame, face blurry, paper ok, who knows.
I told her, save a still jpg first. Then make the pdf. Do not feed the motion file to a page maker.
Android has similar things. Motion photo. Google camera top shot. Different names, same headache.
A scanned page from the xerox shop is a still. That one is easy. A live photo is a little video wearing a photo costume.
Save a still, then drop it
On iPhone, open the live photo, share, or duplicate as still, depending on iOS year. I am not writing Apple help. Look for save as jpeg, or turn live off and copy. What we need is a normal jpg sitting in Files or Photos.
Then JPG to PDF. Each still becomes a page. Download.
If the file is heic, convert or export jpg. Some phones share heic by default. Portals hate it. Our jpg tool wants jpg.
Android motion photo, long press in gallery, save still, or open in Google Photos and export. Again, I will not list every OEM. The idea is one still image file.
Scanned page from a proper scanner is already a still. Feeder, glass, 150 or 200 dpi is enough for a form. Colour if they asked colour. Grey if they asked grey. That file, if it is jpg, goes straight to the same tool.
If the xerox boy gave a pdf already, you do not need jpg to pdf. You might need Merge PDF or File Size Checker.
Live photo of a shop board in sun, the motion part is useless for a licence form. Clerk wants the paper readable. A still, hold the phone steady, lots of light, no live.
I switched live off in camera settings for office work. One less step.
20 MB. A burst of live files can be fat. The still is smaller. If the still is still huge, Compress Image then pdf.
Your file is not uploaded to our server. The live file never needed to leave the phone. We just cannot use it well.
Safari on iPhone sometimes hands the motion asset to the browser. Chrome on Android might hand a jpg. Depends on share sheet. If convert fails, assume you shared the wrong cousin of the file.
PNG screenshot of a live preview is a still. That can go PNG to PDF. Ugly, extra step. Better to export jpg from the camera roll.
I put both scan, one live one still, in a grid once. Disaster. Use Images to PDF Grid only with real stills.
Shop scan versus phone live, what clerks see
Municipality uncle in Ajmer rejected a pdf where page 2 was a live freeze of a moving hand. You could see the thumb. Licence number blurry.
We went back, took a still on the counter, converted again. He accepted.
So this is not theory. Live looks fancy in gallery. Form upload wants a dead quiet page.
Scanner pdf too heavy is a different article on this site. Here the problem is format and motion, not only size.
If you already photographed the page as live, you do not need to visit the xerox again. Just save still from that same shot if the paper is sharp in one frame.
If every frame is shake, retake. Hold elbows in. Rest phone on the table. Flash only if the paper is not glossy.
Glossy licence plus flash plus live is a mess of dots.
For assignment photos, students in Kota love live because it is default. Teacher wants one pdf of 8 pages. Eight stills, JPG to PDF, done. Eight live files, tears.
Rename stills page1 page2 so order is obvious. Drop in order. First still is page 1.
If a live photo imported as a short mp4, that is not an image tool job. Do not drop video on jpg to pdf.
I saw that. Gallery said photo. Files said mp4. Tool said no.
WhatsApp compression when you send the still to yourself can help or ruin. Send as document if you already made the pdf. If you send the jpg in chat, WhatsApp may shrink it. Fine for a bill. Bad for tiny stamp on a licence.
FileOnDesk is not WhatsApp. Convert here, then share the pdf as document.
Resize Image if a portal wants width in px after you have a still. Live does not have a clean width in the way forms mean.
Passport photo tools on this site also want a still crop, not a blinking live selfie. Turn live off. Crop. Then Passport Photo Resize with the px from that form. We do not claim official PSK size as law.
Office habit that saved me time
Camera app, live off, for any paper. Scanner for anything with small print if the shop is next door and cheap.
Phone still for things you cannot put on a feeder. A wall board. A vehicle. A person.
Then one pdf. JPG to PDF for photos. Already pdf from scanner, skip this.
If mix of png screenshots and jpg stills, two tools, or grid if you want them on one sheet. I usually make two small pdfs and Merge PDF.
Check size with File Size Checker before the portal. Still jpg pdf is often under 20 MB if you did not dump raw bursts.
Burst of 20 live photos is how you hit the cap. Pick four good stills.
iPad live photos, same advice. Save still.
Windows laptop does not take live photos. If someone mailed you a .mov from iPhone, that is not jpg to pdf.
I tell the intern, if the thumbnail wriggles, do not drop it. If the thumbnail is quiet, drop it.
Light grammar, light process. No need to explain HEVC to the front desk.
If convert works but the pdf page is black, the still might be hdr weird. Re-export jpg, try again. Or screenshot the still as last cheap trick, then png to pdf. Ugly. Works in a hurry.
Close the tab when done. Working file gone from memory. Stills remain in gallery. Pdf in Downloads.

Last thing. A scanned page to pdf at the shop, ask them for jpg or pdf, not a live video of the glass. I have seen a boy record the scanner screen. That is not a scan. Ask for the file on WhatsApp document, or a pendrive.
Still vs live vs actual scan. Only the quiet still and the real scan belong in JPG to PDF. The wriggle stays in gallery for family. Not for the clerk.
