Kota xerox shop, the automatic feeder. I put a stack of notes. One page was already reverse because I was talking. Feeder ate it. Scan came out upside down. Whole pdf, or sometimes just it feels like the whole pdf because page 1 is the one you open first and page 1 is standing on its head.

Shop uncle said print it, rotate the paper, scan again. Queue was six people. Heat. I said I will rotate on the phone. He shrugged. He has seen every trick.

I used Rotate PDF. 180. Downloaded. Name was readable. No second scan. No extra rupees. I still tip him for the first scan. I am not a monster.

This is the job. Scanner does not care about your dignity. You rotate in the tab.

Feeder ate the page wrong

An upside down scan of a page

Feeders love to grab a page tilted. Manual glass scans get placed with the header toward your stomach by mistake. Phone scans, you rotate the phone not the paper. Result is a pdf that opens like you are hanging from the ceiling.

Clerks hate it. They will not turn the monitor. They will say file wrong. Job portal preview looks like a joke. WhatsApp uncle will say send again, this is ulta.

If only one page in a 10 page file is upside down, this rotate tool as built here turns all pages. Read that again. All pages. 90 or 180 for the whole file. If page 1 is fine and page 4 is ulta, rotating 180 will make page 1 ulta and page 4 fine. Then you are worse.

For mixed files I split the bad page out, rotate that small file, merge back. Split PDF range for that one page, Rotate PDF, Merge PDF in order. Extra steps. Worth it. For a file where every page is upside down, one 180 click is joy.

Shop in Ajmer scanned a whole rent agreement upside down because they fed from the wrong side. All pages. One rotate 180. Beautiful.

Udaipur hotel menus scanned landscape when they wanted portrait. That is 90, not 180. I mix them. I will talk of that.

Your file is not uploaded to our server. Good for signed papers. Rotate in the browser. Keep the original until you see the new file is right. Rotate does not have to replace your only copy. Download a new one.

Password pdf may fail. If the scan is locked, rotate will not run. Fresh scan without lock, or ask the shop.

20 MB limit. A fat colour upside down file is still fat. If the tab dies, the file is too big. Rotate will not shrink it. Compress images another way, or rescan lighter, then rotate.

Rotate 180 in the tab

I open Rotate PDF. Drop the file. Pick 180 if the page is fully upside down. Download. Open. If the header is at the top now, I am done.

I do this on phone Chrome in the shop itself. Wifi of the xerox place is named Xerox_5G and is not 5G. Mobile data. File is small, ok.

No printer needed. That is the point. Uncle wanted to print and rescan. That is a new generation of dirt and a new chance to go upside down again. Digital rotate is cleaner.

If after 180 it is still wrong, maybe it was only 90 wrong. Landscape photo of a portrait page. Then I take original, 90, check. If still wrong, 90 the other way... this tool may offer 90 as one direction. If one 90 is the wrong way, 180 from the already wrong 90 is not in one step. I think in pictures. I try 90, look. Try 180 from original. One of them is right for typical mistakes.

Head at the bottom is 180. Head at the side is 90. I say this to myself like a rhyme.

Jaipur office scanner has a preview on the machine. Nobody looks at the preview. They look later on the PC and groan. Bookmark the rotate tool.

After rotate I still check every page. Especially stamps at the bottom. A 180 rotate puts the stamp at the top. That is correct if the whole page was ulta. If someone signed in the margin, look. Is the signature now hanging in a weird place? It should still sit on the line it was on, just the page orientation is fixed.

90 vs 180, I mix them sometimes

90 is for sideways. A cheque scan, a wide table, a shop board photo saved as pdf. 180 is for upside down. If you 90 an upside down page, you get a sideways upside down page. More wrong. I did this on a Kota marksheet. Looked like art. Clerk said what is this.

So I decide first. I open the pdf. I tilt my own head. If tilting my head 180 makes it readable, I need 180 on the file. If tilting my head to the shoulder makes it readable, I need 90.

Simple. I still mix them when I am in a hurry.

If the pdf has mixed orientations, split and treat groups. Pages 1-5 normal, 6-8 sideways. Split 6 to 8, rotate 90, merge back: 1-5 original plus rotated 6-8. Order. First file on top in merge. I drop the good first part, then the rotated part. If there is a tail of pages after 8, split that too and put it third. Yes it is fiddly. Still faster than rescan a 20 page set.

Phone photos that you converted with JPG to PDF can be sideways because the camera orientation flag is a whole mess. Rotate the pdf after. Or rotate the photos on the phone before making pdf. I rotate the pdf because I already made it.

Print after rotate if they want paper. Now the print should come out with head at the top. If the printer also has a tray mystery, that is a different fight. Usually rotate on file is enough.

I do not rotate a screenshot by turning the phone while I take a photo of the monitor. That is how we got here. Fix the file.

After rotate I still check every page

Open on laptop if you can. Phone hides the edges. Make sure page 2 did not become worse. All-pages rotate is powerful and stupid in a useful way. Powerful because one click. Stupid because it cannot love page 4 extra.

If page 4 is still wrong, go the split path. I already said. I say again because people rotate three times on the full file and create a spinning disaster.

Keep the original scan labelled original-upside-down.pdf so you do not overwrite. Then rotated.pdf.

If the tool sits doing nothing, password or size. Check those. Do not rotate a file you cannot even open on the phone. Open first. See the ulta. Then rotate.

Feeder will eat pages wrong again next month. You cannot train the feeder. You can bookmark Rotate PDF. 90 and 180. No printer. Check the pages. Walk out of the shop with your head the right way up.
