KYC slot is one pdf. I had Aadhaar copy in one scan and PAN in another. Two files. One browse button. The intern asked if we zip them. We do not zip them. We merge.
This sits on my desk in a small finance office. Mutual fund, demat, a shop current account. Same request. Identity in one file. Please.
I am careful with these two papers. More careful than with a shop board photo. That is why the browser matters.
Two scans, one slot
Open Merge PDF. Drop Aadhaar pdf first if they want ID first. Drop PAN second. First file stays on top. Use Up and Down if you dropped wrong. Download one pdf.
If you only have photos, make each a pdf with JPG to PDF, then merge. Or drop both jpgs in jpg to pdf in the right order and you already have one file. Merge is when they are already pdfs from a shop or Digilocker.
Your file is not uploaded to our server. Work happens in this browser tab. I say this out loud to the customer when they hesitate. Close the tab, we never had the Aadhaar. Do not email us the files. Not to hello@fileondesk.com, not to me personally, not “please merge and send back”. I will not take Aadhaar on mail. The tool is in front of you.
20 MB per file. Two KYC scans are not 20 MB unless the shop scanned at 600 dpi colour for no reason. If a file is huge, photo the paper again, make a lighter pdf. The drop zone will refuse the giant one.
Password pdf. Digilocker or a bank download may be locked. Merge will fail. Unlock on your PC with the password you know. We do not guess passwords. Do not send the password to anyone on this site. There is no one sitting on a server to type it.
Masking. Some KYC wants full Aadhaar, some want masked. That is their form, not our tool. We merge what you drop. If you blacked the Aadhaar number on a photocopy, merge that copy. If you need masked Aadhaar from UIDAI, get that file yourself, then merge.
I put Aadhaar then PAN unless the form says PAN first. Consistency helps when a checker looks at fifty files. If they wrote a list, follow the list.
Front and back of Aadhaar are two pages. Sometimes two files. Merge those first into one Aadhaar pdf, then merge with PAN. Or drop four files in order: Aadhaar front, Aadhaar back, PAN, maybe a photo. Order on a slip of paper. Then drop.
Keep it in the browser
I do not use the “free online merge” that asks for a gmail. I have seen enough. FileOnDesk reads the file in Chrome. That is the product.
If you are on a cyber cafe PC, still think. The download will land in that PC’s Downloads folder. Delete after you copy to your pen drive. Close the tab. The cafe is a bigger risk than our server, because our server never saw the file. The cafe disk did, if you downloaded there.
Office PC is better. Your own phone Chrome is ok for small files. Two scans under a few MB are fine on a phone.
Do not WhatsApp Aadhaar to a colleague “please merge”. Merge yourself. WhatsApp is another copy in a chat backup.
If the KYC portal also has a size cap, 2 MB or 5 MB, check with File Size Checker after merge. Heavy colour scans add up. Compress photos before they become pdf pages if you started from the phone.
I had a PAN card photo with a shiny lamination stripe. Merge will not fix shine. Retake.
Name the output something boring. kyc.pdf. Not aadhaar-pan-secret.pdf sitting on the desktop when guests use the PC.
FileOnDesk is not UIDAI, not NSDL, not the registrar. We do not validate PAN. We join files.
If merge download is grey, you need at least the files, under 20 MB, not still working. Wait.
If pages come out different sizes, A6 PAN scan next to A4 Aadhaar, that is normal. Merge keeps both sizes. The portal usually still accepts. A print shop will notice. For KYC upload, usually ok.
After you download
Open the pdf. Page 1 Aadhaar, readable. Page 2 PAN, name matches. Then upload to the KYC site. Then delete extra copies you do not need. Originals you keep in a locked folder or a file at home. I am not your lawyer. I am saying do not leave KYC pdf on a shared desktop named final-final-2.pdf.
If the portal wants only Aadhaar in one slot and PAN in another, do not merge. Read. I merged for a man whose form had two slots. He had to split. Split PDF range. Extra work because we did not read.
Some sites want zip. Rare now. Most want one pdf. Merge is the answer they cannot spell.
If you have a photo of Aadhaar and a pdf of PAN, make the photo into pdf, then merge. Mixed types in one drop on merge will not take a jpg. Merge wants pdfs.
Rotate if a scan is sideways. Rotate PDF. Then merge. Or merge then rotate all, which also turns the good page. Rotate the bad one first.
I will not print Aadhaar on the office printer for a stranger. I point at the tool. They drop. They download. They leave with their pen drive.
Last April a shopkeeper needed KYC for a payment app. Two jpg photos. I did not merge pdfs. I used jpg to pdf with Aadhaar then PAN. One file. 800 kb. He uploaded in the shop, standing. Tab closed. Files never mailed.
I have a small talk I give when someone wants me to “just take it on mail”. No. Aadhaar plus PAN in one mail thread is a gift to whoever later hacks that inbox. Browser merge, download, upload to the KYC site, delete from Downloads if it is a shared PC. That is the whole kindness.
If the app wants e-KYC through OTP, you may not need this pdf at all. Read the screen. This note is for the old slot that still says attach identity proof, one file.
Shop scans in colour look pretty and eat megabytes. Grey is enough for a PAN card. If merge makes a 6 MB file and the slot is 2 MB, go back to photos, compress, new pdfs, merge again. Do not smash the merged pdf with some mystery compressor. Start from lighter pages.
I keep a paper checklist on the desk. Aadhaar front. Aadhaar back if they asked. PAN. Name same on both. No password. Under the portal’s MB. Then Merge PDF. Then I stop touching it.
That is how this should go. KYC slot is one pdf. Two scans. Keep it in the browser. Do not email us the files.
